Welcome
To Katyra Reg'd Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. Located in Welland, Ontario, Canada, Katyra is a small home based kennel producing on average 1-2 litters per year. My goal is to produce true versatile Tollers that conform to the Standard, can work in the field and ring but first and foremost make exceptional family pets. Because of this, health and temperament are at the very top of my priority list. No matter how beautiful a dog is and how many show/field wins it has, it will not be used in my breeding program without a sound temperament and healthy bloodlines.
All breeding stock are at the minimum hip, and eye Certified clear (OFA and/or OVC, eyes CERF'd annually) and DNA tested for PRA and CEA.
Puppies are raised in the home and are very well socialized with other dogs, cats, and all kinds of people before going to their new homes at a minimum age of 8 weeks.
Puppies are available occasionally by reservation only. I must meet you and your family (anyone that will be living with the dog) and you must meet the dogs before I will accept any deposits for puppies.
Please do your research however as Tollers are not for everyone !
They are a smart active breed that not only needs physical exercise but mental stimulation as well. If you don't give them something to do, guaranteed they will find something to do!
I describe them as half way between a Golden and a Border Collie.
They're not quite as laid back as a Golden but not quite as active as a Border Collie!
They are NOT small Goldens! What they lack in size they make up for in energy and tenacity.
I have been working with and competing with dogs since 1999. I have taught obedience classes, do private behaviour consultation as well as offer show handling and boarding services.
Thank you for visiting my site!
If you have any questions or concerns please contact me !
